Physallis

"Chinese Lantern": I tried to paint these flowers for last tuesday watercolour class and it was a fiasco. Disappointed , I decided to paint them again with the help of a watercolour painting.. just as bad..A bit stubborn, I tried again today from a photo; I'm pretty happy with it !!...

  3. These are lovely - such beautiful things to draw. I like the way that they have a slightly angular appearance and you have really captured that.

  4. Oh Martine, you certainly did get their lighter-than-air, transluscent quality. Well done.

  5. I love the name "chinese lanterns", much more fun than physalis... My children love the fruits, and I love the sheerness of the flowers, that crumble when the kids eagerly reach for the insides. I haven't tried to draw or paint them though, it seems very difficult! But you did very very well, especially the yellow one is perfect!

  6. I've seen these before! And yes they are very pretty... I feel that if they could talk they'd be talking about how proud they are right now to be drawn by Martine! ^^ I really like the mixed colors in the background too.

  7. Your chinese lanterns are beautiful. I really love these. My mother used to always have dried bouquets of chinese lanterns when I was little.

  10. I think they are bright and happy! And the way the stems almost touch - it's a love story, no doubt. Nicely molded. I especially like the green lines on the yellow one.
